Matt Damon is bald, angry
After an amazing debut with District 9 in 2009, all eyes were on what director Neill Blomkamp would do next. But finding out solid information has been far from easy.
That’s because his latest project, Elysium, has been shot under the tightest security, with just a few shots of star Matt Damon leaking out. The film is set in the distant future and on another planet, where the population is split between a life of squalor on the ground and a pristine space station for the wealthy.
The full synopsis goes like this:In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
Principal photography has already finished on Elysium and today we’ve got an all new image (from The Playlist ) which shows lead Matt Damon bald, tattered and wielding a strange looking weapon as well as some kind of robotic sleeves on his arms that may be a way of enhancing strength. The gun bears the word ‘Chemrail’ which we imagine will be some kind of dodgy corporation and the tech looks quite like the rough hewn style of District 9.
