3.5 out of 10 21 Grams
Ann-Marie from Meath, 10 Dec 2007
A bit confusing at the start as the film jumps from the end to the start to the middle and back again and it continues to do so throughout the film but you do get used to this and after a while, it doesn't matter. An excellent film with a superb performance from Sean Penn (who I adore anyway!) Naomi Watts is great too. However, this is not a film that you can watch without giving it 100% concentration because if you don't, you won't have a clue what's going on.

3 out of 10 Difficult but interesting.
Fergal from Wexford, 10 Mar 2008
This movie is difficult to get into, it takes the first 30 mins for the plot to sort itself out and take off. Its a sad movie with a number of tragic characters. I think it would help to read a review and get an idea of the plot before watching it. In this way the first thirty mins would be more useful. Overall a reasonably good movie with good individual performances. One note of caution, seemed a bit long which is not a good omen..

3.5 out of 10 Shattered
Brock from Limerick, 09 May 2010
Naomi Watts is very good as the mother/wife whose life is shattered into many pieces by a single incident, and it's these shattered fragments that are then used to tell this story. We flick back and forth between different characters and times and slowly piece together the full picture. This is no easy film to watch, and feels more European art house than anything Hollywood. Don't expect a warm feeling after this...

2 out of 10 Felt like 21 hours
Christine from Roscommon, 03 Jun 2012
I was bored within the first 20 minutes of this, then it suddenly took off. After another hour though, I gave up. It just seemed interminable. The basic idea is interesting enough - the intertwining lives of killer, victim and transplant patient shown through a series of out of time sequences. The performances were terrific and the film looked great. It was just too long.

4.5 out of 10 class..........
Eugene from Kerry, 14 Aug 2007
this film is not one for the weak hearted, it takes a little leap of faith that it will all come together in the end. those of you who have seen the directors other film "Babel" will like the non liner approach. it links in all three protagonists into a coherent ending that is arresting and inspiring. a must for any serious film fan!

What's it about....
How much does life weigh? A freak accident brings together a terminally ill mathematician (Penn), a grieving mother (Watts) and a born-again ex-con (Del Toro) in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's fantastic multi-layered follow up to his debut 'Amores Perros', a gripping story that takes them to the heights of passion, the depths of obsession and sees the promise of revenge...
