4 out of 10 Above average sports movie
Brian from Mayo, 28 Aug 2007
Don't let the fact that this film is about American Football put you off. It deals with a high school football team, and shows how the immense pressure put on the young players affects them and their families. Based on a true story, it avoids most of the cliches that dog other sports films. The extras on the DVD are also top notch, showing the real people behind the story.

3 out of 10 friday night lights
Shane from Galway, 07 Jul 2007
If your into this types of sports related films, which I am, you will enjoy watching this. Well worth the watch even if it is very similar to many sports films before it. The same things seem to happen in a lot of these films with the only difference being the sport and where it is set. But this is quite a good film and it will keep you entertained.

3.5 out of 10 Typical affair
Ciaran from Dublin, 04 Jul 2007
Yet another sports movie in which the team pull it all outa the fire for the coach. You either like these or you don't and I do so enjoyed it. This is a character driven movie where we get involved with the lives of the coach and some of the key players who's actions and decisions will decide how the team will do come the big games. Enjoyable.

James from Cork, 07 May 2009
Very good football movie, good adaptation from a very good book. Coin toss scene is probably the non dramatic, dramatic scene ever filmed...

3.5 out of 10 Good, for a sports film.
James from Tipperary, 26 Feb 2008
It might look like a cliched american football film but, it is a good show with a twist in the end that makes it worth watching.

What's it about....
Based on H.G. Bissinger's book, which profiled the economically depressed town of Odessa, Texas and their heroic high school football team, The Permian High Panthers. Expectations are high for the 1988 football team at Permian "Mojo" High School in the blue-collar, football-crazy town of Odessa, Texas. Mojo is a traditional powerhouse in Texas high school football, and the community lets coach Gaines know in many not-so-subtle ways that nothing short of a state championship...
