Gone, Baby, Gone, Ben Affleck's directorial debut, is based on the novel by Dennis Lehane, the author of Mystic River. Dorchester, one of the toughest neighborhoods in all of Boston, is no place for the weak or innocent. Its a territory defined by hard heads and even harder luck, its streets littered with broken families, hearts, dreams. When one of its own, a 4-year-old girl, goes missing, private investigators Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro don't want the case. But after pleas from the child's aunt, they open an investigation that will ultimately risk everything -- their relationship, their sanity, and even their lives -- to find a little girl-lost.

3.5 out of 10 'Gone Baby Gone'
Fiona from Dublin, 24 Nov 2008
Some parts were hard to watch as a parent of a child about the same age and look as the one in the story but I think it was worth it. Having lived in Boston for a number of years the characters were spot on and very realistic. The acting was excellent (can you ever fault Morgan Freeman?) It is a roller coaster ride with a big twist you only see coming 5 seconds prior to the reveal. In the end there is a moral dilemma and you may or may not agree with the decision that is made.

4 out of 10 Excellent, from Affleck!
Steven from Dublin, 15 Oct 2008
This is a very impressive directorial debut from Affleck, he has managed to tell a great story-using a great cast (C. Affleck, Freeman, Harris), Boston's locals as extras, and the city of Boston to tell the story-conveying the atmosphere to the audience. Both Afflecks are from Boston and spent many years there-their accent is authentic and you can tell that they feel obliged to act at their best for this film. Definitely worth renting

3 out of 10 not bad
Trish from Dublin, 30 Dec 2008
watched this on stephens day...not the most light hearted of films. expected it to be completly different as it was said to be very similar to the madeline mc cann case. Its not. only silmilarity is a little girl goes missing. the language in it is really bad and this is coming from someone who swears a lot! Its worth a look although the plot can get a little confussing at times.

4.5 out of 10 A Great Directorial Debut
Myles from Louth, 18 Nov 2008
This was a really great film to watch. A dialogue driven film that does not suffer from a lack of action because of the quality of the script. Throw in great acting performances from Ed Harris, Morgan freeman and, in particular, Casey Affleck and brother Ben serves up a hit on his directorial debut. One fo the best films I have seen this year.

4 out of 10 Thriller
Ciaran from Dublin, 10 Sep 2008
A quality thriller in which the two Afflecks show what they are good at - Ben behind the camera and Casey in front of it. This is a movie in two parts. The main plot seems to come to a close at the midway point but then it picks back up again and the overall experience is if a very strong thriller. Certainly recommended, if a little dark.
