We apologize for any inconvenience caused. --- An isolated lunar astronaut begins to lose his grip on reality in this cerebral sci-fi thriller with one heck of a twist. Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is just two weeks away from finishing a lengthy, lonely contract mining Earth's primary source of energy, Helium-3, on the dark side of the moon. Thanks to a glitch in the communications satellite, Sam's only companion on this trip is Gerty (voiced by Kevin Spacey), the base's unsophisticated computer, and the odd recorded message sent from home. As his contract nears termination, Sam starts suffering from crippling headaches and vivid hallucinations, which lead to a near-fatal accident in a lunar rover. But while he's recovering back at the base, he makes a shocking discovery: a younger version of himself has arrived to fulfil the same contract Sam started all that time ago. Is the second Sam just another hallucination or something altogether more sinister?

3.5 out of 10 A must see !
Peter from Cork, 07 Jan 2010
The poster might fool you into thinking you are going to see a sicence fiction film but half way through you begin to make comparisons with your own life. The Kevin Spacey voiced robot is what we might all have in our own homes if we are not careful. This opens up all sorts of subjects for discussion and avenues of thought. The forced separation of husband and wife is sad at first and mind blowing by the end. This is a girls film and a boys film. See it.

4.5 out of 10 First Rate
Michael J from Wicklow, 15 Dec 2009
This is real science fiction, it engages the intellect and the heart and stays with you after the movie is over. Its not a hollywood sci-fi noisy explosion fest, its a clever and atmospheric slow burner with some tips of the hat to other great sci-fi movies of the past, notably 2001. One of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in years.

4 out of 10 Moon
Jason from Dublin, 12 Feb 2010
Slow-burning sci-fi drama that re-uses a few ideas from other films but does so very well, utilising the isolation of space to focus on feelings of loss, loneliness and mortality. Sam Rockwell is excellent as ever and this low budget effort looks anything but cheap. Well worth investigating.

5 out of 10 Best film I have seen since Doubt
Keith from Mayo, 02 Feb 2010
This is the 21st Century's 2010. Watch this film, its brilliant! Sam Rockwell breaks through to leading man supported by Kevin Spacey and Matt Berry. Buy it, rent it but don't copy it!
