Enjoyed it as much as the original ...

Having seen and enjoyed the original Planet of the Apes films some years ago we enjoyed this film very much. We didn't get to see it when it was released in the cinema but read good reviews. The story was plausible and the characters sympathetic and believeable. We really enjoyed it. The acting was very good and the story gripping and moved at a good pace, never boring. There is obviously a 'what happens next' element to the ending as this is only the start of of the history and a big gap to the story of the original 'Planet of the Apes'

Brilliant

I was a bit worried about this as I was never a fan of Planet of the Apes. This is not Planet of the Apes. The story is convincing and well told and the acting is brilliant. The story will hold your attention and there's enough action if that's what you want.
Take time to watch the 'making of' bit on the dvd. Well worth a few minutes.
Engaging

Much better than I expected. Thought it would be predictable but the pace is just right and you feel for the chimp. CGI doesn't get in the way because the direction is so good. You just accept computer chimps and apes as part of the story even though sometimes the movements a re a little jerky.
Simply Awesome

One of the best films made in the past 5 years. Human characters are irrelevant so Pinto, Lithgow and Cox can be ignored. Serkis is the man. You know where the story is going, its all about how it gets there. Great credit to the franchise
Monkey business

This is a much better film than it might have been - an intelligent script and very good special effects (even if a bit over-reliant on CGI), makes this an entertaining and intelligent blockbuster.
