The Sweeney (2012)

This was too far removed from the original Sweeney for my liking. I love Ray Winstone and his character was as brilliantly acted as always. I was even pleasantly surprised at Plan B's acting ability. And the storyline was interesting enough but they should just have made it as a film that WASN'T called The Sweeney. As a fan of the original Sweeney I found this to be disappointing as I expected it to be of the same genre - bringing it up to date but then trying to keep the old violent ways didn't work for me. I think I would have enjoyed it better without the pre-conceptions that the title naturally affords.

I'm not a prude but there's only so much bad language, testosterone fuelled violence and hackneyed story lining one can take. The original series worked because of the length of the episodes well cast actors and good acting, this is "The Bill" with attitude, and Ray Winstone is no John Thaw, Avoid, unless you enjoy the above.

If you like Ray Winstone movies then this is one of his best yet. Fantastic action scenes , 2 very good car chases and the usual amount of senseless but enjoyable fight scenes and one liner cracks. Not to be taken too seriously, just sit back and enjoy.

Didnt enjoy this. they tried way too hard. Ray winston is old and it shows. story is not believable. didnt even watch the end

Just about watchable. Stereotypical Ray Winstone tough guy is a cop. About 20 mins too long........
