Unnecessary discomfort
Mark from Wicklow, 16 Apr 2007
Although this film does have a good story to it and is well written, (see synopsis), there are a few things that might consider you to think otherwise about renting it. We all feel uncomfortable with sex scenes while watching it with the person/people you least would want there in such a circumstance, and this film is chock full of em! I wont go into details but it really ruined it for me as some of the scenes did not bare the most attractive of people, and had nothing to do with the film. Avoid

Interesting movie

Interesting movie that rolls along slowly but has some nice moments. Tommy lee jones just manages to sell his more-sympathetic-than-usual role of a rancher trying to do right by his friend Melquiades, an illegal immigrant working as a cowhand, who is mistakenly shot by a law officer. I found that the non-linear order in which the story unfolded was a bit overdone but the overall movie was still good to watch. Worth a watch.
The fourth burial was Tommy Lee Jones career!
Brian from Cork, 28 Sep 2007
Poor, dull movie which left little to be admired, basically telling the story of a murdered mexican cowboy and his three burials, and about his friend Tommy Lee Jones trying to find out why he died, who did it and returning his body to his homeland. Not a classic just a boring watch. T L Jones really needs to make better movies than this.
Hard.

Tommy-Lee vows to take his Mexican cowboy friend home to bury him and discovers some oddities along the way. A cold and hard modern western, this is probably not for everyone with its slow deliberate pacing but is rewarding for patient viewers. Annoyingly leaves a few ends untied though.
3 Burials

Fairly impressive low budget production. Quite memorable but don't expect anything too exciting, this is a very subtle, visual film. Speaking of visual, the scenery and cinematograpy is breath taking. Also, great to see Levon Helm in film again...
