The 5th Annual Irish Film And Television Awards

With the gala ceremony just one week away, the Irish Film and Television Academy are delighted to welcome a stunning lineup of Irish and International talent stepping out onto the red carpet for the 5th Annual Irish Film and Television Awards at Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre on Sunday the 17th of February of which Screenclick are proud to be an official patron.

The Awards ceremony will be hosted once again by TV and Radio host Ryan Tubridy. The Irish Film and Television Awards is one of the few awards ceremonies that acknowledge both television and feature film achievements and IFTA are pleased to welcome shortlisted actors including; Jonathan Rhys Meyers; Colm Meaney; Pat Shortt; Elaine Cassidy; Anne Marie Duff; Hugh O’Conor; Brendan Conroy; Donal O’Kelly; Don Wycherley; Fionnula Flanagan; Maria Doyle Kennedy; Dawn Bradfield; Amy Huberman; Denis Conway and Gary Lydon; to the Ceremony.
Behind the camera, filmmakers in contention for silverware include directors Lenny Abrahamson, Brian Kirk, Declan Recks, Tom Collins and Paddy Breathnach.

Other invited guests include top Irish actors Brendan Gleeson, Colin Farrell, David Kelly, last year’s Supporting Actor winner Liam Cunningham.‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ star Evanna Lynch, ‘Sweeney Todd’ actress Jayne Wisener and US actress Rene Russo. Rene’s on screen appearances include ‘Lethal Weapon’, ‘Ransom’, ‘Outbreak’, ‘In the Line of Fire’ and ‘Get Shorty’.

And there is more!  Mel Gibson will receive the Outstanding Contribution to World Cinema Award at the 5th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards. With an exceptional career that spans over three decades, Mel Gibson has starred in over 48 film and television productions. He is the co-founder of Icon Productions and, since his directorial debut in 1993, he has become one of the industry’s most successful and renowned filmmakers.
His list of acting credits include ‘Mad Max’, ‘The Bounty’, ‘Lethal Weapon’, ‘Maverick’, ‘What Women Want’ and ‘Conspiracy Theory’ and, as a director/producer, Gibson has helmed features including ‘Apocalypto’, ‘The Passion of the Christ’ and ‘Braveheart’ – filmed on location in Ireland.
