Garage DVD release follows the film’s huge success at the IFTA's taking home a grand total of four awards including Best Actor, Best Directors, Best Script and the Best Film but tributes for Garage are not all home grown – it also took awards at the Cannes Film Festival.

Josie (Pat Shortt) has spent 20 years as the caretaker of a crumbling petrol station in small-town Ireland. Despite loneliness and the fact that his neighbours treat him as a figure of fun, he’s always good natured, absurdly optimistic and, in his own peculiar way, happy; he has his place - it might not be great, but it’s his.

Garage is the story of Josie’s hapless search for intimacy over the course of a summer which sees his little niche threatened and his life changed forever.

Designed by Jukka Setälä of Finland, fatboy is the 21st century "beanbag".
A fatboy deserves a place in every living- and bedroom. It has a multitude of uses:
a lounge-bag for a student's room, a relaxing option for the office, a comforting-pillow for children, or even a spare bed for unexpected guests.

It is unique in its conceptual approach to interior design and is furniture in its most elemental. Simply put, fatboy is too beautiful to be ordinary.

The Last Station...

IFTA winning Irish actress Anne Marie Duff (Garage, Shameless) will star alongside Helen Mirren (The Queen), Christopher Plummer (Closing the Ring), Paul Giamatti (Sideways) and James McAvoy (Atonement) in Michael Hoffman's Leo Tolstoy biopic ‘The Last Station’.

Based on Jay Parini's 1990 novel, ‘The Last Station’ depicts the final year in the life of the Russian writer and philosopher and his troubled relationship with his wife Sofya. During his career the renowned writer penned novels such as ‘War and Peace’ and ‘Anna Karenina’. Mirren and Plummer topline the cast with Giamatti as Tolstoy's trusted disciple Chertkov, McAvoy as his private secretary and Anne-Marie Duff as the couple’s daughter Sasha.

The €13 million drama will shoot in Germany and Russia, with Jens Meurer of Berlin-based Egoli Tossel Film, and Chris Curling of the U.K.'s Zephyr Films producing.

'Love & Savagery' Begins Filming in Clare

Cameras began rolling in Co. Clare this week with a four week shoot planned on Ireland’s west coast. The €4million production then moves to St. John's Newfoundland for a further four weeks of principal photography.

The romantic drama is written by screenwriter Des Walsh (Random Passage) and directed by John N. Smith (Dangerous Minds, A Cool Dry Place).
Love and Savagery is a Canadian/Irish co-production. Set in 1968, the romance follows a young Canadian scientist who finds love exploring Ireland’s geology – but the woman’s prior commitment to God and the church stands in their way.

Canadian actor Allan Hawco (Closing the Ring) and Irish actress Sarah Greene (Eden) head the cast with supporting performances from Martha Burns (Silk), Sean Panting, Macdara Ó Fatharta (Cre na Cille) and Nicholas Campbell (Cinderella Man).

Rent Now - Lions For Lambs

Directed by Academy Award winner Robert Redford, the story begins after two determined students at a West Coast University, Arian (Derek Luke) and Ernest (Michael Pena), follow the inspiration of their idealistic professor, Dr. Malley (Redford), and attempt to do something important with their lives. But when the two make the bold decision to join the battle in Afghanistan, Malley is both moved and distraught. Now, as Arian and Ernest fight for survival in the field, they become the string that binds together two disparate stories on opposite sides of America. In California, an anguished Dr. Malley attempts to reach a privileged but disaffected student (Andrew Garfield) who is the very opposite of Arian and Ernest. Meanwhile, in Washington D.C. the charismatic Presidential hopeful, Senator Jasper Irving (Tom Cruise), is about to give a bombshell story to a probing TV journalist (Meryl Streep) that may affect Arian and Ernest's fates. As arguments, memories and bullets fly, the three stories are woven ever more tightly together, revealing how each of these Americans has a profound impact on each other and the world.

Rent Now: Indiana Jones

Staff Choice
Staff choice this month is a trip down memory lane. With the next and long awaited instalment of the Indiana Jones saga on its way, we believe it’s time to rewind in preparation.
It’s hard to believe that it was twenty seven years ago that Harrison Ford first dawned the hat and whip to become Indiana Jones in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". The movie and the story has aged well, probably better than Ford himself, and it’s more deserving than every of those four Oscars.
Raiders of the Lost Ark,
The Temple of Doom and
The Last Crusade are all available to rent from Screenclick today!
